Why the lowest quote is hard to compare
Two suppliers can quote machines with similar photos and very different configurations. One quote may include a stronger spindle, known controller, better guides, chip conveyor, coolant system, tooling, manuals, inspection report, and export packing. Another may include only the basic machine body. The second quote is cheaper, but not necessarily better value.
Items often missing from cheap CNC quotes
- Exact controller model, matching servo drives, manuals, and parameter backup.
- Spindle brand, power, cooling type, taper, speed, and warranty process.
- Tool holders, chuck, vise, collets, cutting tools, probes, bar feeder, or fourth-axis options.
- Chip conveyor, coolant, mist collection, dust extraction, safety enclosure, or transformer.
- Geometry report, sample cutting test, inspection video, and acceptance criteria.
- Installation, training, spare parts, remote troubleshooting, and English documentation.
- Export packing, inland transport, port charges, sea freight, insurance, duties, and destination handling.
When a budget China CNC machine can make sense
A low-cost machine can be reasonable when the job is simple, the buyer accepts support limits, the tolerance requirement is realistic, and the machine will not shut down a critical production line if it needs adjustment. It can also work when the buyer has in-house maintenance ability and knows which compromises are acceptable.
When cheap is probably too risky
Be cautious when the supplier avoids model numbers, refuses inspection, cannot explain the controller package, gives unrealistic accuracy claims, or promises full support without explaining how it works in your country. Also be cautious if your parts require stable production accuracy that the machine's structure and spindle package may not support.
How to make low quotes comparable
Send every supplier the same RFQ and require a line-by-line configuration. Ask them to confirm included items, excluded items, optional upgrades, warranty terms, inspection process, payment terms, and shipping responsibility. Then compare total landed cost and support risk, not just the ex-works machine price.
